Strategy of department
Technical forms of arts, or media art in a broader sense, are becoming more and more important in an artistic society. Visual technology, photography, movies, video and television and now, Internet are more powerfulmeans of communications than others. It’s hard not to notice new tendencies in contemporary art. In art exhibitions video art installations, photos in one or another form are more often presented. Therefore a problem of arts integration is becoming more important.
Training of these technical art forms specialists is becoming especially problematic in these circumstances.
Concept of studies program is based on image production problems related to specific theoretical and technological media. Three main parts of these problems could be discerned:

IMAGE IN DYNAMICS
VIRTUAL IMAGE
Static image is related to photography. Object of photography studies: characteristics of three-dimensional setting and its flat optical projection are examined in various aspects. The challenges are related to specifics of photo taking conditions, topics are chosen in aesthetic ways of expression and levels of communication.
Vision in dynamics: studies are related to development of vision in time.
Dynamic image is related to video and movies. Object of studies: arranging images in time, sound dimension, processing of imageseeking articulated language.
Virtual image: merging problems of image in static andimage in dynamics, using new technological possibilities of digital image.Study tendencies: technological peculiarities, software, problems of new communications specifics, including CD and Internet.
Theoretical disciplines and practicum courses, dealing with specific image language problems are incorporated in the studies.
The program includes communications theory studies, which cover visual communications theory and image semiotics. The studies touchon and analyse general psychological and physiological image perception principles, image communication peculiarities.
An important role is given to traditional and contemporary art studies problems. Such subjects as drawing, basic composition, introduction to art, projection in 3D allow students to work with classical art objects.
Third academic year students are given a possibility to specialise in photography or video art, while computer technologies possibilities are also studied at the same time. The students can improve their skills not only in a selected field, they can also get better knowledge of artwork existence forms, such as newspaper, magazine or book illustrations, photo album, exhibition, video film in TV or projection in exhibition.In addition to general subjects of their chosen speciality, the third year students are working individually with an art project, devoted for search of individual artistic expression.
